    • Can I get information about the international agreements of Maltepe University?

      As a higher education institution with an Extended Erasmus University Statement, our university has the right to participate in the Lifelong Learning / Erasmus + Program within the scope of European Union Education and Youth Programs. As part of the program, our students can participate in the learning mobility in higher education institutions that we have bilateral agreements from the member states of the European Union and also in internship activities that can be realized with higher education institutions or enterprises.

      Our university has accepted the goals set by the Bologna Process. The necessary studies are carried out to establish a balance between diversity and unity, our country is also located within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and for our students to travel in Europe easily.

      As Maltepe University, we have 180 Erasmus + Student Learning Agreements with 114 universities, over 600 departments from 29 different countries in Europe. Click for the List of Agreements.

      Our Faculty of Fine Arts cooperates with international organizations such as CILECT, DOCLANDS ACADEMY, ELIA and AEHT.

      Our Vocational School is recognized by The International Air Transport Association (IATA) as the Authorized Training Centre and authorized to offer international valid certification in the field of aviation. We have a strategic cooperation agreement with Cambridge International Aviation Academy (CIAA).

      Our School of Foreign Languages has international accreditation from Pearson Assured, which is being renewed every year since 2016.

      Graduate has a master's degree program that offers two different international certification opportunities (IB Advanced Leadership Certificate, Body Psychotherapy Certificate).

    • When has Maltepe University been founded?

      Having established in 1997 by Istanbul Marmara Education Foundation (İMEV) with the understanding of “Free in Thought, Contemporary in Education, Universal in Science,” today, our university, which offers education services with its 9 Faculties, Graduate School, 2 Schools, Vocational School and Conservatory, has become a world-renowned university with its diploma at international level.

    • How many campuses does Maltepe University have?

      Maltepe University has one campus only. All academic units and social areas are included in Marmara Education Village, located in Maltepe.

    • What are the international opportunities?

      The main objective of Maltepe University, which offers all needed in a university active is to train rational thinking, studying, researching, producing, capable of competing in every field with the youth of the world, modern and enlightened people for the future of Turkey.

      Maltepe University also offers its students the opportunity to study abroad. EUA (European University Association), TASSA (Turkish-American Scientists and Academicians Association), IMHE (OECD Higher Education Program) memberships, Erasmus exchange programs, exchange programs with many universities in the world, double diploma opportunities, minor programs are also an indicators of its international recognition.

    • Does the campus include facilities where I can meet my daily shopping needs?

    • Does the campus offer facilities for accommodation?

      In our university, we have female and male dormitories. Our student dormitories built in accordance with the earthquake regulations and located among the pine forests, meet accommodation needs of our students; offer a healthy, comfortable and peaceful life opportunity, nested in nature, where permanent friendships are established, solidarity and sharing are learned.

    • Can we access to library off Marmara Education Village?

      Access to electronic versions and licensed databases of periodicals subscribed by the University Library is made within the framework of license agreements with companies, and access is provided only by means of IP address control. Proxy (proxy) Server has been launched by our University's Informatics Center (Internet Center) so that you can access these services from outside the campus during working hours and on holidays. The changes you need to make in your internet browser for accessing these services off-campus are explained in the link.

    • Does the library offer training programs for users?

      Yes, our library organizes trainings based on users' demands and needs. For more information about orientation and trainings, please visit our web page.

    • Is there any mobile application for library procedures?

      Yes, you can run your membership procedures on mobile application, named Cep Kütüphane "My Pocket Library." You can download the application from Google Play and Appstore, have access to print or electronic sources that you want, selecting Maltepe University. You can access to different library catalogues on the same program. 

    • What are the services that library offers?

      Our library, which has been completely renovated in the summer of 2018, has a shelf capacity of 200,000 volumes and a seating area of 500 located in approximately 3,200 m² area. There are free study rooms where students can work aloud and reader computers, all connected to the Internet. All study desks have special lighting and electrical sockets. There is a wireless network connection in the library building. Maltepe University students are members of the library and can borrow books for free. With the smart library system, users can access the books that they are looking for as soon as possible and borrow quickly and easily from the loan devices. There are more than 135,000 printed and 8.000.000 electronic resources available, and the collection is constantly being improved.

    • Who can use the library?

      Our students, administrative and academic personnel can use the library. 

    • Can I be exempt from English I and / or English II courses if I am studying at another university?

      Yes, you can be exempt. The exemption conditions are as follows:

      For 'English I' and 'English II' courses coded ENG 121 and ENG 122, you are required to have successfully completed the Preparatory Class at the level of A1 (elementary - beginner) at another university; or had at least CC letter grade from the compulsory English course you have taken and had equal credit;

      have successfully completed the Preparatory Class A2 (pre-intermediate – alt-middle) level, which you have studied at another university for 'General English I' and 'English II', encoded ENG 107 and ENG 108, 'English I' and 'English II' courses coded ENG 109 and ENG 110 or have at least a CC letter grade from the compulsory English course you have received and have the course content at the A2 level and to have a credit equal to the credits of these courses.

       

    • Do I have to take the Exemption Exam for English I and English II courses?

      No. If you have just enrolled in the departments/programs whose instruction language is Turkish and do not take the exemption exam, you must take "English I"/"English II" courses.

      There is no RETAKE for the Exemption Exam.

    • Do I have to take the Proficiency Exam for Prep Class?

      No. If you think that your current level of English is not enough for you to be exempt from the Prep Class and / or you definitely want to study the Preparatory Class, you can write a petition to the School of Foreign Languages Directorate and indicate that you do not want to take the exam. However, we recommend that you take this exam. There is no compansation for the Proficiency Exam.

    • How can I make branch changes in English undergraduate classes?

      The branch change can only be made by your advisor if there is a quota in the requested new branch. There is no interface screen where the instructor of the relevant course can transfer from one branch to another.

    • How do we make course choices in English undergraduate classes?

      You can make your course choices only with the approval of your Advisors. The instructor of the relevant course helps you only on quota increase upon your request.

    • If I am not successful in the elective course, do I have to repeat the same course again?

      No. You can choose another course if you want.

    • If I do not perform well in the Prep Class, will my scholarship be cut?

      Yes. Students with scholarships pay fee in case they repeat the Prep Class in their second year. However, the scholarships of students who successfully complete their undergraduate courses at the end of the second year are re-offered.

    • If I fail in the English Preparatory Class at the end of the first year, can I transfer to my faculty?

      No. If you fail in the Prep Class at the end of the first Academic Year, you must re-study the Prep Class in the following Academic Year. If you fail again at the end of the second year, then you will not be able to start your English undergraduate programs / departments, and you will be transferred to the status of "waiting student" from the following academic year on. 

      You cannot attend classes as a pending student, but you can take all the English Proficiency Exams held on condition that you apply at least one month before the exam date and pay the exam fee set by the University.

    • If I fail the English Preparatory Class, can I switch to Turkish Undergraduate Programs?

      Applications for the placement of students who fail in the compulsory foreign language preparatory class in higher education programs whose instruction language is Turkish are submitted to SSPC. Announcements and application form are published on the SSPC website (under the title of "Placement of students who fail the compulsory foreign language preparatory classes in higher education programs teaching Turkish").

    • Is the English Preparatory Class mandatory at Maltepe University?

      English Preparatory Class is compulsory for students studying in departments and programs whose instruction language is English. The Prep Class is also compulsory at the Faculty of Law, whose 30% of instruction and training language is English.

      Although the Preparatory Class is not compulsory for the departments whose instruction language is Turkish, students who wish can study at English Preparatory Class on the condition of paying their fees.

    • Is the Preparatory Class mandatory in the departments / programs in which the instruction language is Turkish at Maltepe University?

      No. However, students can study at the Preparatory Class on the condition of paying their fees.

    • What are the conditions for exemption from English I and English II courses?

      Exemption Exam: In order for students to be exempt from compulsory foreign language courses, students must succeed in the Exemption Exam held by the School of Foreign Languages at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. The Exemption Exam is evaluated on 100 full points and from this exam; 70 fields are exempt from the fall semester compulsory foreign language course, while 80 are exempt from the spring semester compulsory foreign language course with a "AA" success grade.

      Students who pass with a score of 80 or more by continuing the fall semester compulsory foreign language course or students who are exempt from the compulsory foreign language course in the fall semester with a letter grade of AA, they can take the exemption exam for the compulsory foreign language course in the spring semester. The conditions of success in the exam are the same as the exam applied in the fall semester.

      National and/or International Examinations: Also accepted by the University Senate, the national and/or international examinations are at the A1 level for English I and English II courses with ENG 121 and ENG 122; You may be exempt from English I and/or English II courses provided that you are successful at A2 level for English I and English II and English II courses coded ENGLISH I and ENGLISH 109 and ENG 110 code English I and ENGLISH II code ENGLISH with ENGLISH 107 and ING 108 and English II.

    • What is the Preparatory Class Placement Exam? Do I have to take it?

      Yes, it is compulsory to take the Preparatory Class Placement Exam. This exam is done in order to measure the English level of students who fail the English Preparatory Class Proficiency Exam and place them to the appropriate level.

    • What should I do to attend the optional Preparatory Class in the Turkish Undergraduate Program?

      To do so, it is sufficient to freeze your registration for the first year at the beginning of the academic year and pay the Preparatory Class fee even if you are a scholarship student. All the rules and practices for our students studying at the Compulsory English Preparatory Class apply equally to our students who will receive optional Preparatory Class Training. However, with one difference: Students who take Preparatory Class Training optionally pass to the first year of study program even if their GPA does not meet the requirement with failure. 

    • Which foreign languages can I learn in addition to English?

      You can take courses such as German, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian as Elective Courses.
