English Preparatory Class

Students who are admitted to programs in English take English courses in their first year at university.

The School of Foreign Languages aspires to train individuals who constantly renew themselves, search, question, believe in teamwork, embrace ethical values and are preferred professionals with their competency in foreign language knowledge and skill. The main mission of the program is to bring language skills of students up to a level that they can follow their lectures, scientific and technological developments, understand and interpret English academic publications and provide the necessary language communication in the professional, cultural and social environment.

English Preparatory Class

English Preparatory Class program has been supervised by Pearson Assured and evaluated thoroughly under three main criteria, namely management-organization, education-learning and examination. The School has been accepted as Pearson Assurance Center as result of the comprehensive examination of all quality policies, processes and procedures that support Preparatory Class program. Students who successfully complete the Preparatory Class Program receive a certificate with the PA logo, documenting that the program meets international standards.

English Preparatory Class

Students who enroll in programs whose instruction language is English but do not have the qualifications at the desired level receive a training in accordance with the "Common Framework Program of European Languages" (CEFR) in the Preparatory Class. The English Proficiency Exam is given to students who have recently registered at the beginning of the Fall Semester, and those who attend the Preparatory Class at the beginning of the Spring Semester and who provide the minimum scores specified in the Student Handbook to take this exam. In order for students to be considered successful in the English Proficiency Exam, they must get the minimum score specified in the "School of Foreign Languages ​​Directive."

English Preparatory Class

Students who fail to receive the required minimum score after two years can switch to the Turkish program. The English Preparatory School is optional for students who will get their undergraduate education in Turkish. During undergraduate education, students can optionally take elective courses such as "Presentation Techniques," "English for Business," "Advanced English" and "Preparation to TOEFL Exam" to develop their language skills in a specific field of English. Students are also offered elective language courses such as German, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian.
